Gabby Williams Wins Finals MVP After 30-Point Game 7 Lifts Valkyries to 1st WNBA Title

Q: Can Allisha Gray’s resurgence and Atlanta’s fast-start formula survive Chase Center’s pressure in the biggest game of the season?

Yes, but only if Atlanta can reproduce the exact conditions that fueled Game 6: an early lead, clean ballhandling and enough shot-making from Allisha Gray to keep Golden State from turning the game into a half-court grind. Gray’s resurgence is real, but it is still fragile. Her 23-point, 5-of-7 three-point performance in Game 6 was Atlanta’s clearest sign yet that her injured hand is no longer dictating the series. Just as important, she also defended at a high level, adding two steals and three blocks. If she is even close to that version again, Atlanta’s offense becomes much more balanced alongside Rhyne Howard and Angel Reese. The larger question is whether Atlanta’s fast-start formula can travel to Chase Center. The evidence is mixed. Atlanta has already won once on the road in this series, so the environment alone is not disqualifying. But Golden State’s home crowd, its 17-5 regular-season home record and its ability to slow tempo make a repeat of that 32-point first quarter harder to expect. This series has repeatedly come down to pace, turnovers and composure. Atlanta is 3-0 in the Finals when it reaches 70 points and pushes the game in transition. Golden State is most dangerous when it limits mistakes, controls the paint through Kiah Stokes and forces opponents into late-clock offense. If the Dream protect the ball and “punch first” again, Gray’s scoring can survive the pressure. If the Valkyries dictate tempo early, the Chase Center advantage is likely to show.
