Apple Launches Google-Powered Siri AI With iOS 27 in September

No—many buyers will not get Siri AI on day one, even on a brand-new iPhone. Apple appears to be planning a staggered launch. Code found in the latest iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate betas shows a built-in waitlist system for Siri AI, with server-controlled wait-time estimates and a notification when access is granted. Apple used the same approach during beta testing, when some users reportedly waited up to a week. Even without the waitlist, eligibility is limited. Siri AI requires supported hardware, including iPhone 16 models or later, plus the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. Older iPhones that can run iOS 27 still will not support the feature. Apple also says Siri AI will begin as a beta later this year for devices set to English, with more languages added later. Where you live matters too. At launch, Siri AI is not initially available on iPhone, iPad or watchOS in the European Union, though Mac and Vision Pro users in the EU can access it. It is also not yet available in China because of regulatory requirements. So the practical answer is this: if you buy a new supported iPhone in a supported region, set it to English, and install iOS 27, you may still have to join a waitlist before Siri AI turns on. If your phone is unsupported, or you are in a restricted region, you will not get it at launch at all.
