Turkiye Seeks Interpol Red Notice for Netanyahu Over May Gaza Flotilla Raid

July 14 arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and another suspect have now been escalated by Turkiye into a request for Interpol red notices, Justice Minister Akin Gurlek said Friday.
The case stems from Israel’s May interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters, which Ankara says involved genocide, crimes against humanity and torture against Gaza-bound activists.
About 50 vessels joined the flotilla; activists were detained by Israeli forces, taken to prison in Israel and later deported, in an operation that drew international outcry.
Israel rejected the move, with Netanyahu’s office calling President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s effort an intimidation attempt and accusing Turkiye of trying to destabilise the region.
The legal push underscores Turkiye’s broader campaign to press international accountability over Israel’s Gaza war, while France, Italy and Australia have also opened judicial proceedings over the flotilla incident.
