Not yet — Tesla has not confirmed that the standard Model Y will get the same thermal and glass upgrades as the Model Y L. What is clear is that the Model Y L has a specifically advertised hot-weather package: revised roof glass that reflects up to eight times more solar energy, cuts cabin solar heat gain by up to 30% versus 2024-and-earlier Model Ys, and an HVAC change using a brazeable AlNi3 alloy to reduce heat leakage. Tesla ties those changes to measurable gains: up to 15% faster cabin cooling, a 23% improvement in hot-weather thermal efficiency, about 7 extra real-world miles in heat, and up to 10 miles recovered after 25 minutes of Supercharging in hot conditions. The strongest clue that at least some of this may already be spreading to the refreshed standard Model Y is Tesla’s own comparison baseline. The roof-glass improvement is explicitly measured against 2024-and-earlier Model Ys, which suggests the 2025 “Juniper” refresh may already share part of the new glass technology. However, Tesla has not said whether the full package — especially the HVAC alloy and the headline efficiency gains — also applies to the regular Model Y. So the best reading is this: some overlap is plausible, particularly on glass, but the full Model Y L thermal package should be treated as exclusive until Tesla says otherwise.
