Wisconsin regulators revoked Minocqua Brewing Co.'s alcohol permits for its Minocqua and Madison taprooms, with the shutdown order taking effect Aug. 4.
Authorities said the brewery illegally transported beer from Illinois without required permits or tax payments, prompting the enforcement action after seized shipments drew scrutiny.
Owner Kirk Bangstad said he does not plan to stop selling beer and intends to fight the revocation, setting up a clash as the effective date approaches.
The case adds to a broader pattern of legal and political controversy around Bangstad, whose brewery has repeatedly clashed with local officials and businesses.
