Summary
Casey Smith, 19, told BBC Scotland she has spent four years applying for nearly 1,000 jobs, landed about five interviews and still has no work.
Five-minute Jobcentre meetings and repeated referrals to CV or community projects have not helped, she said, leaving her frustrated and saying the current support system is "falling to bits."
Nearly 1 million young people in the UK are classified as Neet, and last year 93% of 16-19 year-olds were in education, employment or training; those aged 20-24 are more likely to be Neet.
Scottish data also showed 16-19 year-olds from the poorest backgrounds were more than five times less likely to be in education, training or work than peers in the least deprived areas.
The Department for Work and Pensions said it is investing £2.5 billion in youth support and modernising Jobcentres, while an official review led by Alan Milburn is expected to propose wider reforms.
