Summary
$100 in the US is the starting price gap, with the iPhone Duo also costing £300 more in the UK and €300-€340 more in Europe.
$419 for a Galaxy Z Fold 8 inner-display repair versus $999 for the iPhone Duo widens the ownership-cost gap, even before AppleCare+ adds $200 a year.
Three-app multitasking, floating windows and Samsung DeX give the Z Fold 8 a broader productivity edge, while the Duo is limited to dual-app multitasking and eSIM-only support.
7.6-inch inner screens on both devices mask other trade-offs: the iPhone Duo is heavier and thicker, while Samsung adds more customization plus 8K video and pro video controls.
Eight generations of Samsung foldables give the Z Fold 8 a durability track record, whereas Apple's first foldable arrives with hinge and dust-resistance upgrades but untested long-term reliability.
