Curaçao claimed its first Little League World Series crown since 2004 by beating Nevada 11-2 in Sunday’s championship game in Williamsport.
An early 2-0 Nevada lead vanished in the third inning, and Curaçao then piled up nine runs over the next three frames behind dominant pitching and a deep lineup.
Nevada still threatened in the sixth with the bases loaded, but a drive to straightaway center died on the warning track, leaving the comeback out of reach.
The Willemstad team had already shut out Japan 4-0 in the international final, capping a tournament run that reinforced Curaçao’s status as a Little League powerhouse.
The title was Curaçao’s second overall, making it only the second Little League World Series champion to win with a country name on its uniform, alongside Japan.
