QuestStack now gives the Quest 1 a fully unlocked bootloader, automating a previously complex privilege-escalation process into stable, privileged access to the headset’s hardware.
A web version from darknight1050 cuts the process further: plug in the headset, visit a webpage, and receive the unlocked bootloader.
The unlock applies only to the first-generation Quest, an older headset still considered capable even though later models surpassed it in performance and optics.
Meta has largely left Quest 1 behind—new content no longer needs to support it—making the tool a path to keep unsupported hardware useful instead of discarded.
