Aug. 24 court filings show Brittany Boltinhouse sued the Miss USA Organization and A Blaize Productions in North Carolina, seeking jury-determined damages for reputational, emotional and economic harm.
The 27-year-old alleges the organizations used social media to brand her a "racist, homophobe, transphobe, and intolerable bigot" after stripping her 2026 Miss North Carolina USA crown.
Her complaint does not contest the pageant's authority to remove her title; it targets the statements made after old posts resurfaced, including 2017 and 2019 posts in which she used a racial slur.
A Blaize said on Aug. 5 that her reign had ended after a review of information inconsistent with the title's values, and Miss USA CEO Thom Brodeur said the organization does not tolerate racism, homophobia or transphobia.
Myla Hadley, the first runner-up, has taken over the state title and is set to compete at the Miss USA pageant later this month.
