Samsung Galaxy phones can be set to restart automatically through Device Care, letting users schedule reboots or allow the system to trigger them when performance issues appear.
The feature is designed to improve long-term performance by clearing temporary memory, fixing minor software glitches and supporting battery health, with the report recommending at least 1 weekly restart.
Samsung says the phone will only reboot when the screen is off, the device is idle and battery charge is above 30%, reducing the chance of interrupting normal use.
Regular restarts also carry a security benefit: the NSA lists them among mobile-device best practices because they can make it harder for attackers to keep access to a phone.
Older Galaxy models that no longer receive software updates may benefit most, though the report says newer phones should also have auto-restart enabled from the start.
