Spencer Pratt, a Republican who once mocked Karen Bass as “Basura,” said Bass “decisively won” Wednesday’s debate and made “mincemeat” of Nithya Raman.
Pratt still called a Bass second term “depressing” and a Raman mayoralty “terrifying,” while highlighting Bass positions on street vendors and involuntary hospitalization that he said echoed his own tougher line.
Bass may welcome that crossover support ahead of the Nov. 3 general election against Raman, a Democratic Socialists of America member; former rival Rick Caruso also recently called Bass a “very good partner.”
The race is also spilling into other flashpoints: Raman and Bass both moved against Lineage after the Boyle Heights warehouse fire, while Raman’s absence helped cancel a housing and homelessness committee meeting she still chairs through month’s end.
