Dre Greenlaw Blasts Denver Altitude After $31.5 Million Broncos Stint

Greenlaw said Denver’s altitude left him with a dry mouth, dry nose and sleepless nights, describing the experience as “fighting demons” before his return to San Francisco.
The 28-year-old linebacker said the move never settled on the field either: a severe quadriceps strain in OTAs sidelined him until Week 7, and a later hamstring issue deepened his isolation.
Greenlaw also said Denver’s scheme never clicked for him, and he took responsibility for pushing too hard while returning from Achilles and calf injuries after signing a three-year, $31.5 million deal.
That disappointing year ended with his release after eight games, 43 tackles, one sack and one interception; he has since rejoined the 49ers on a one-year, $7.5 million contract.
Back in California, Greenlaw said the familiar environment feels like home and gives him another chance to prove himself after a brief, difficult Broncos stint.
