Summary
South Coast AQMD gave Lineage Logistics until Monday to submit a stronger odor-mitigation plan for its fire-damaged Boyle Heights warehouse after issuing seven nuisance violations.
More than 900 complaints arrived last week alone as rotting food at the June 17 fire site continued to send foul odors downwind, especially during waste loading.
Lineage told city officials it has removed 1,329 tons of food waste in 589 truckloads and about 1,630 tons of total waste, while adding barriers, deodorizers and carbon-filter air scrubbers.
Ysabel Jurado said those steps still left key questions unanswered, including what added protections residents will get, when conditions will improve and how success will be measured.
A pest-control inspection identified the warehouse as the main source of a nearby fly infestation, widening pressure on Lineage as regulators await its response.
