Summary
Stone County deputies arrested 26-year-old Gavin Thor Lundgren after he sprinted across a two-lane bridge and dove headfirst into Table Rock Lake while trying to escape.
Authorities said the chase began around 1:50 a.m. on July 18 when Lundgren's 2004 Chevrolet Malibu was clocked at nearly 75 mph in a 45-mph zone, and he then abandoned the still-moving car.
Three deputies suffered minor injuries during the arrest, including facial bruising, cuts to hands, elbows and forearms, and abrasions; investigators said Lundgren headbutted two of them.
Lundgren was charged with three counts of third-degree assault on a special victim, resisting arrest for a felony, resisting arrest by fleeing and careless driving, and is being held without bond.
