The political alarm came as the U.S. bombed Iran for a 10th straight night after Iranian strikes killed two U.S. soldiers in Jordan and another servicemember died in Iraq; at least 17 U.S. troops have died in the war.
Brit Hume said Trump is vulnerable because he promised to avoid endless wars, while Trump insisted the mission had grown into "ending any chance" Iran could have a nuclear missile.
The unease follows a widening conflict after U.S.-Iran talks collapsed, Iran re-closed the Strait of Hormuz, and Trump stumbled when asked why a war he once framed as weeks long is nearing five months.
