The key difference appears to be that Samsung is now branding the feature under Galaxy AI, suggesting better subject recognition, smoother tracking, or smarter reframing rather than a wholly new shooting mode. That matters, because One UI 9 itself appears to focus more on polish and consistency than on radical interface changes. The broader Android 17 and One UI 9 push is toward deeper AI integration across the system, and My FanCam fits that pattern: a camera feature improved by AI rather than a breakthrough that changes what a phone camera can fundamentally do. Still, it should not be dismissed as trivial. If Samsung’s AI can more reliably lock onto a chosen person, avoid awkward framing shifts, and work well in crowded or fast-moving scenes, that would be a meaningful upgrade for casual creators.
