Summary
Federal agents arrested Thomas Markle, 82, near Tampa early Friday on charges tied to child sexual abuse material, after he was named a person of interest earlier this week.
The case centers on allegations that illicit images were found at his former home in the Philippines; later reports said the FBI also seized 78 items from Los Angeles storage units.
Meghan said last month she was “deeply distressed” by the allegations and disclosed that a letter with “troubling allegations” about her father had been sent to London police in 2018.
The arrest deepens a long estrangement between Markle and the Duchess of Sussex, who has said she distanced herself from him to protect her children.
