Summary
Trump said the US had destroyed Iran’s nuclear capabilities but that “one or two sites” were still left, adding they could be dealt with “in ten minutes.”
At a Halloween event at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday, he paired that claim with a fresh warning that Iran “will never have a nuclear weapon.”
Trump also said Tehran wants a deal, but cast doubt on any talks by calling Iran unreliable and accusing it of backing out after reaching agreements.
The remarks leave the immediate picture split between Trump’s assertion of major military success and his insistence that both remaining sites and negotiations are still unresolved.
