Summary
$1,099 preorders for Xreal's Aura opened Wednesday, with the mixed-reality headset set to ship in mid-November; a higher-spec 512GB/16GB model is priced at $1,299 through year-end.
The launch undercuts Xreal's earlier pricing by $180 on the base model and $201 on the higher-tier version, putting the AndroidXR device out ahead of Meta's rival VR glasses expected next spring.
Aura runs AndroidXR apps in 2D or 3D modes, supports hand tracking, and can pair with keyboards and game controllers; it can also plug into phones, laptops and other USB-C video-out devices.
Xreal is pitching the 70-degree, transparent-lens headset and phone-sized processor puck as a lightweight tablet or laptop alternative, extending mixed-reality use beyond typical indoor VR setups.
