Fired Press Secretary Katie Zacharia Praises Trump on X After 1 Week in Job

Q: After breaking the record for the shortest White House tenure, what mysterious new role awaits Katie Zacharia in the administration?

No specific new job has been publicly identified yet. The White House and multiple outlets reported only that Katie Zacharia is “transitioning out” of the press secretary role into another position in the administration, with an announcement to come later. That means the role remains unclear for now. President Donald Trump said after her dismissal that he still wanted her in the administration, and senior officials told reporters she would move into a different post rather than leave government altogether. What is known is that Zacharia’s exit came after roughly five days as press secretary, making it the shortest tenure on record for that job. Her departure followed criticism of her first briefing and scrutiny over her legal credentials. Despite that, she publicly praised Trump on X after being removed from the role. So the direct answer is that a new administration role awaits her, but as of the latest reporting, the White House has not disclosed what that role will be.

Katie Zacharia posted on X Friday night, hours after her firing, calling Donald Trump "kind, wonderful" and saying it was an honor to work for him.
Her exit came after a 14-minute debut briefing and two rocky Fox appearances, including one in which she acknowledged she had not passed the bar after describing herself as a lawyer.
Trump removed Zacharia from the press secretary role after about a week but said she would remain in his administration.
At 41, Zacharia lasted fewer days than Anthony Scaramucci's 10-day 2017 tenure as White House communications director, prompting his reaction on X.
