Summary
Veritas has introduced a second-generation authentication chip that works on metal surfaces and can be scanned through glass, widening its use from garments to jewelry, trophies, hard-surface goods and fragrance bottles.
The startup says the chip fights “superfakes” by generating a secure response with each tap and using a tamper-detection wire, aiming to make copied QR codes or static NFC links harder to exploit.
ATHLOS, the women’s track-and-field event founded by Alexis Ohanian, will embed the chips in all 18 championship crowns; Veritas also tagged a reimagined pair of LeBron James’ first Nike shoes.
Veritas has raised $1.75 million in pre-seed funding led by Ohanian’s Seven Seven Six and, since its February round, has launched an iOS app and brand portal for ownership records and post-sale experiences.
