US Judge Orders Trump to Cancel $20 Million TV Ads for 14 Days

Summary
A federal judge barred the Trump administration for 14 days from creating, renewing or airing any remaining taxpayer-funded television ads promoting the president, extending a halt just weeks before the midterm elections.
Judge Jennifer Rochon said the plaintiffs had shown the ads may exceed Congress's authorized purposes and violate federal restrictions on publicity and propaganda.
$20 million in Department of Homeland Security funds was used for the spots, which the White House defended as public service announcements even as critics in both parties called them political propaganda.
Trump had said last week that he and his campaign would pay for the ads, but the White House later said that post did not mean the government would be reimbursed.
