Summary
3-0 Georgia held the edge over Alabama in the second quarter of Saturday night’s top-10 SEC showdown after both offenses stalled early.
Keelon Russell’s lost fumble helped define the defensive tone; the Alabama quarterback was 4-for-7 for 24 yards, while Georgia’s Gunner Stockton was 2-for-2 for 29 yards.
The low-scoring start contrasted with the teams’ season-long firepower—Georgia entered averaging 51.4 points per game and Alabama 49.6.
Both 5-0 teams came in with SEC and College Football Playoff stakes rising, with Georgia also chasing payback after last season’s 24-21 regular-season loss to Alabama.
