Summary
Cleveland erased a 4-3 deficit with six runs in the sixth inning to beat the White Sox 9-5 in Game 4 and send the ALDS back to Progressive Field for Saturday’s decider.
After managing one hit through four innings and losing starter Parker Messick after 2 1/3 innings, the Guardians first rallied on fifth-inning homers by Patrick Bailey and José Ramírez before breaking through against Grant Taylor.
Travis Bazzana’s RBI double started the sixth after Angel Martínez was hit by a pitch and stole second; the next six Cleveland batters reached, with Taylor failing to record an out and allowing four runs.
The outburst followed Cleveland’s 9-3 Game 3 win, marking the second time in franchise postseason history the Guardians have scored nine runs in consecutive games.
Cleveland has now recovered from an 0-2 series hole and returns home with history nearly even on its side: 10 of 18 teams that tied a best-of-five after trailing 2-0 went on to win Game 5.
