Summary
At least one person died and more than 100,000 customers lost power as the nor'easter pushed flooding, downed trees and strong winds from the Mid-Atlantic into New England.
Rain totals reached 6.91 inches at Joint Base Cape Cod, 6.84 inches in Sharon, Massachusetts, and 4 to 6 inches in coastal New Jersey, where gusts peaked at 74 mph in Surf City.
Several feet of ocean water flooded parts of coastal Queens and Long Island, while New Jersey evacuated dozens of residents and rescued dozens more from flooded roads and cars.
The storm was easing in the Mid-Atlantic on Sunday but was expected to keep heavy rain over New Hampshire and Maine into early Tuesday before exiting into Canada.
Despite an eye-like satellite appearance, the system was not named because it remained a nontropical nor'easter, lacking the sustained warm-water structure needed for subtropical classification.
