Jaxon Smith-Njigba has not just emerged as Seattle’s top weapon; through two weeks, he looks like the clear focal point of the offense. The evidence is strong. In Week 2 against Arizona, he posted nine catches for 155 yards and three touchdowns, including an 82-yard score on Seattle’s opening drive, the longest catch of his career. PFF graded him at 91.6 for the game, one of the best receiver marks of the week. Through two games, he has 17 catches for 277 yards and four touchdowns, and Seattle quarterbacks have a perfect 158.3 passer rating when targeting him in Week 2. This is not just one explosive outing. Smith-Njigba was already coming off a 2025 season in which he led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards and won Offensive Player of the Year. Seattle’s own usage shows where the offense is centered: he has 22 targets in two games, far ahead of Rashid Shaheed’s nine and Cooper Kupp’s five. In Week 1, he also drew a massive target share and remained productive even after the quarterback injury. That said, “dethroning” veteran teammates does not mean Seattle has stopped valuing them. Kupp, Shaheed and the rest still give the offense depth and balance, and Seattle’s system appears designed to spread touches when needed. But right now, Smith-Njigba is clearly the player defenses must account for first. So yes: based on production, target volume, explosiveness and recent track record, Smith-Njigba has effectively become Seattle’s ultimate offensive weapon.
