JB Pritzker twice refused on ABC to weigh in on Hasan Piker or say whether Democrats should denounce him, saying the party should focus instead on stopping Donald Trump and advancing a worker- and middle-class agenda.
Jonathan Karl pressed the Illinois governor on Piker’s reach and on whether he would accept the streamer’s endorsement, but Pritzker said Piker “doesn’t mean anything” to him or to his election.
Hasan Piker has drawn fresh scrutiny after saying in a recent interview that a nuclear-armed Iran could make the Middle East “more stable” and that the U.S. is responsible for more terrorism than al Qaeda “pound for pound.”
The remarks have sharpened a broader Democratic debate over online influencers’ place in the party, with Rahm Emanuel condemning Piker’s rhetoric while strategist Kaivan Shroff argued 2028 contenders will face pressure to define who belongs in the party’s “big tent.”
