Vance Casts 2026 Midterms as Referendum on Democrats' 'Crazy' Agenda in Iowa

Speaking in Council Bluffs, Vice President JD Vance said the 2026 midterms would decide “common sense versus pure unadulterated crazy,” framing Democrats as the central target of the GOP campaign.
Vance argued today’s Democrats have broken from FDR, JFK and even Bill Clinton, saying the party no longer represents working people but wants to “utterly transform” the country.
He pointed to New York candidates he said back “the total eradication of Western civilization” and singled out Kansas Senate candidate Adam Hamilton as a subtler version of the same politics.
The rally also doubled as a boost for Iowa Republicans including gubernatorial nominee Zach Lahn, Rep. Ashley Hinson and congressional candidate Chris McGowan, as Vance works to energize turnout in a key early-voting state.
