Summary
Sony’s revamped PlayStation audio line splits into two wireless models: the cheaper Pulse with an integrated mic and the higher-end Pulse Edge with a detachable boom mic and built-in backup mic.
Planar magnetic drivers anchor both headsets, with four magnets per driver in Pulse and eight in Pulse Edge, while both add AI noise rejection and use Sony’s PlayStation Link 2.4GHz dongle.
Pulse Edge also becomes the first PlayStation headset with active noise cancellation, and Sony says the redesign targets comfort with rotating earcups that can rest around the neck between sessions.
The update follows complaints about the 2024 Pulse Elite’s comfort despite strong sound quality; Sony says Pulse will arrive this holiday season in select markets, while Pulse Edge is slated for 2027.
Sony did not disclose pricing, but the base Pulse is expected to undercut the $150 Pulse Elite, which included accessories the new models will not.
