Doora debuted as a 24/7 AI companion offering voice and text support for people dealing with grief and trauma, especially when therapists, counselors, friends or family are unavailable.
Rob Fazio said the tool draws on Hold the Door's 24 years of research into post-traumatic growth and was built by lawyers, psychologists and business leaders to reach people reluctant to seek help.
Hold the Door created Doora to honor Ronald Fazio Sr., who was killed in the Sept. 11 attacks after helping coworkers evacuate the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
The launch ties the nonprofit's latest project to the 25th anniversary of 9/11, extending its broader work of free workshops, grief resources and community programs rooted in resilience after the attacks.
