Summary
A June 29 pitch deck shows Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s office proposed turning parts of Miami-Dade into GTA 6-themed attractions, including Vice City airport signage, branded Metromover trains and custom manhole covers.
The plan aimed to capture tourism and marketing revenue around Rockstar’s launch, with ideas ranging from a Port Gellhorn-style dock installation to a family-oriented “Vice City Motor Fest” and a community “Vice City Radio Lab.”
Rosie Cordero-Stutz and Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez said the county should promote the real Miami-Dade, not a fictional image tied to crime, violence and attacks on law enforcement.
Chief Judge Ariana Fajardo and Clerk Juan Fernandez-Barquin also urged the mayor not to feature courthouses in any campaign, though they acknowledged the installations could bring fiscal benefits.
The dispute has widened beyond branding into local politics, with Levine Cava, Cordero-Stutz and potential mayoral contender Bermudez also battling over sheriff’s office funding in the 2027 county budget.
