Q: Why does Google's cheapest new Pixel drastically outlast its most expensive Pro models in battery life?

The base Pixel 11 lasts much longer largely because it is the least power-hungry phone in the lineup, not because it has dramatically bigger battery tech. Its battery is slightly larger than the Pixel 11 Pro’s at 4,985mAh versus 4,850mAh, but the bigger difference is demand. The standard Pixel 11 pairs that battery with less taxing hardware: it lacks some of the Pro radios such as Wi‑Fi 7 and Ultra-Wideband, uses less ambitious camera hardware, and has a display that is bright but not pushed as hard as the Pro panels, which peak higher at 3,600 nits. Those premium parts on the Pro phones add capability, but they also draw more power. The Pro models also carry more imaging load. Their larger 50MP/48MP/48MP camera systems, higher-end selfie cameras, and extra cloud and camera features are designed for performance and quality, not endurance. The Pro XL offsets some of that with a larger 5,115mAh cell, which is why it outlasts the smaller Pro, but it still trails the base model. Google’s Tensor G6 and new MediaTek modem appear to improve efficiency across the range, especially for connectivity and 5G tower switching. But those gains benefit all three phones. In practice, the standard Pixel 11 seems to convert that efficiency into the best battery life because it has the lightest overall workload. That is why testing showed about 19 hours for the Pixel 11, compared with roughly 13 hours for the Pro and 15 hours 47 minutes for the Pro XL.
