Apple has internally prototyped and tested an Apple Pencil for its first foldable iPhone, but Bloomberg reported the accessory is unlikely to debut with the device on Sept. 9.
The stylus remains under consideration because a foldable phone sits between a handset and tablet, yet Apple is weighing practical drawbacks such as where users would store it and whether it could mark a more delicate folding display.
Gurman said any eventual foldable-iPhone Pencil would be stubbier than current iPad versions, which would make it Apple’s first stylus ever designed for an iPhone.
The foldable model—often dubbed iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold by analysts—would mark Apple’s entry into a category already occupied by Samsung, Google and Motorola.
