Summary
A 23-year-old man has been charged with two counts of murder after Wednesday’s house fire in Grangetown killed Natalie McDonald, 34, and her niece Valentina Foster, 7.
Cleveland Police said he also faces two counts of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and two counts of attempted section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.
Teesside Magistrates' Court is due to hear the case later on Tuesday as prosecutors said there is sufficient evidence to bring it to court.
Northumbria Police called the fire a complex investigation, thanked local residents for their support, and urged anyone with information to use the Major Incident Public Portal.
The CPS said proceedings are now active and warned against reporting or sharing material that could prejudice the defendant’s right to a fair trial.
