A 32-year-old woman died and a 68-year-old man stabilized after Pamela Cisneros allegedly stabbed both in separate abdomen attacks near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue around 4:26 p.m.
Police said the 49-year-old Queens woman, who had a documented mental health history, threatened bystanders with two knives, then told officers, “I would rather kill both of you” and refused repeated orders to drop them.
Four minutes after the confrontation began, officers used Tasers twice before two officers opened fire at 4:27 p.m.; Cisneros was pronounced dead at a hospital and two knives were recovered.
NYPD said the attacks appeared random and unprovoked, not terror-related, and Mayor Zohran Mamdani said body-camera footage will be released as the department conducts an internal investigation.
