UNC opened Bill Belichick's second season with a 15-10 win over TCU in Dublin, avenging last year's 48-14 opener loss and delivering his first marquee college victory.
The Tar Heels' defense drove it, holding TCU to 286 yards, 10 points and a 27% offensive success rate as the Horned Frogs' revamped attack sputtered under new quarterback Jaden Craig.
UNC's offense was uneven in sloppy conditions, but transfer quarterback Billy Edwards did enough and tight end Jelani Thurman emerged with 4 catches for 94 yards.
