Samsung has not announced prices for the 2027 Odyssey OLED G9, G8, or G7, so the “astronomical” price tag is still unknown. What can be said, based on Samsung’s current Odyssey pricing, is that these new models are likely to sit at the very top of the gaming-monitor market. The closest price anchors are Samsung’s existing premium displays: the current 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 has listed around $1,899.99 in a 240Hz version, with lower-spec 49-inch OLED G9 variants around $1,299.99. Samsung’s 27-inch and 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 models have recently carried list prices roughly between $1,099.99 and $1,299.99, while mainstream 4K Odyssey G7 models have sold for markedly less. That suggests the new 49-inch OLED G9 with 360Hz and 720Hz dual-mode capability could land at or above today’s $1,899.99 flagship level, given its “world-first” positioning. The 32-inch triple-mode OLED G8, with 4K 360Hz, 1440p 520Hz, and 1080p 680Hz plus DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, also looks positioned for a premium price at least in line with, and likely above, current OLED G8 models. The 42-inch curved OLED G7 is harder to pin down, but its size and OLED panel suggest it will not be cheap. For now, the only firm fact is that Samsung is withholding pricing and exact launch timing, saying availability will vary by market.

Q: With Samsung pushing monitors to an insane 1,100Hz, is there a PC on earth that can actually handle this extreme speed?

Yes, but only in a narrow sense: a top-end gaming PC can likely drive Samsung’s 1,100Hz monitor signal, but very few systems will sustain anything close to 1,100 frames per second in real games. Samsung’s 27-inch Odyssey G6 G60H reaches 1,100Hz only in its lower-resolution HD/1080p-style dual mode, while its native 1440p mode tops out at 600Hz. That matters because refresh rate is only useful if the GPU and CPU can feed the monitor enough frames. By 2026, the transport side is no longer the main obstacle. Newer GPUs and DisplayPort 2.1-class connections are already enabling 1000Hz displays, including LG’s recently launched 25-inch UltraGear that can run 1000Hz at 1080p and 1100Hz overclocked, provided users have very recent graphics cards and the right cable. The harder part is game performance. In lightweight esports titles such as Valorant, Counter-Strike 2, Overwatch 2, or older competitive shooters, a heavily tuned PC with a flagship GPU, a very fast CPU, low settings, and optimized memory may approach several hundred fps and in some cases push toward the four-digit range. But in modern AAA games, 1,100 fps is essentially unrealistic. That means Samsung’s 1,100Hz is mainly for elite esports scenarios, benchmark-friendly titles, and users chasing the lowest possible motion blur and latency. For most players, the more practical headline is not 1,100Hz, but whether their system can consistently exploit 360Hz, 500Hz, or 600Hz.
