Summary
Two days after surgery and stitches, Jonathan Bruney ran 8 miles Monday and biked 41 miles with 4,800 feet of climbing Wednesday, his father said.
Bruney was bitten on the arm and pulled underwater during a Sunday training swim in the Savannah River, then fought free by punching the alligator and poking its eyes before swimming to shore.
The 31-year-old coach is recovering and still plans to race the Augusta 70.3 Ironman in September and Ironman California in October.
His father said Bruney's biggest concern in the water was other athletes nearby, and he thanked police, EMS, hospital staff and fellow triathletes who helped after the attack.
