Summary
U.S. private employers added an average 11,750 jobs a week in the four weeks ended Aug. 8, according to ADP’s NER Pulse, extending a second straight weekly increase.
The latest four-week moving average rose from 9,500 in the week ended Aug. 1 and 8,250 a week earlier, suggesting hiring stabilized after a midsummer slowdown.
Even with that uptick, job growth remains far below early June levels, when the measure reached 30,750, and below late May readings near 29,000.
ADP said the figures are preliminary, seasonally adjusted estimates based on high-frequency payroll data with a two-week lag, and they may be revised as more data arrives.
