Summary
Kit Harington has been cast as Gilderoy Lockhart in HBO’s “Harry Potter” Season 2 after Nicholas Hoult exited the role because of scheduling conflicts.
Season 2 adapts “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” where Lockhart becomes Hogwarts’ new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher before being exposed as unfit for the job.
Harington recently voiced Lockhart in Audible’s “Harry Potter” audiobooks and said in December that taking the part was a “really simple yes” because he loves the character.
The second season is due to start shooting this fall, while Season 1 premieres on HBO and HBO Max on Christmas Day with Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout leading the young cast.
