Poland Readies Closure of All Russia, Belarus Crossings Within 14 Days

Poland said it can shut all border crossings with Russia and Belarus within seven to 14 days, with Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz saying the equipment is already in place.
Stockpiles, fortifications and other defensive structures have been built up under the East Shield program, and Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk said Poland is also buying mines for the plan.
The border-closure option is tied to a broader military buildout along Poland's eastern frontier with Russia and Belarus under East Shield, launched in 2024.
The program is meant to harden NATO's eastern flank, with 2.5 billion dollars planned over four years for military infrastructure and related defenses.
