That means the phone is changing how the image is made, not just how it is edited afterward. The practical effect is that if you shoot a JPEG or the normal processed photo with a Look enabled, some choices are irreversible. Google’s Pixel camera chief has said that once heavy processing or merge artifacts are applied, “you can’t do less” later. If a Look uses fewer merged frames, deeper shadows, softer detail, or blown highlights for style, that character is part of the rendered image and cannot be fully undone in editing. That does not mean every Pixel 11 photo is permanently trapped with no escape route. Reports indicate RAW capture still bypasses most of Google’s stylized processing, preserving more underlying image data for later editing. Reviewers also noted that RAW files held more dynamic range than the JPEG version with a Camera Look applied. So the answer depends on what file you keep. If you rely on the standard processed output, the Look is mostly locked in. If you also shoot RAW, you retain a more flexible version that can be re-edited independently of the Pixel 11’s chosen style.
