Beatty Seeks Sept. 8 Halt to Kennedy Center's 3-Part Trump Renaming

Summary
Rep. Joyce Beatty asked a federal judge to immediately freeze the Kennedy Center board’s Trump-renaming resolution before its planned Sept. 8 effective date.
The emergency motion says the Trump-allied board defied Judge Christopher Cooper’s earlier order by voting to place Trump’s name twice on the front portico and rename the grounds "President Donald J. Trump Plaza."
Beatty said the board removed Trump’s name only at the last possible minute in June, then covered the facade with a tarp that obscured President Kennedy’s name while litigation continued.
Cooper, who previously ruled only Congress can change the center’s name, gave the board until Monday to respond as the fight broadens over who controls the landmark’s identity.
