Germany Seeks 2022 Nord Stream Suspect After Croatia Arrests Diver on Film Set

Pula police detained Volodymyr Zhuravlyov on Wednesday under a German European arrest warrant, with Berlin seeking extradition over the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline bombings.
German prosecutors say the trained diver helped plant explosives that destroyed three of four pipelines linking Russia and Germany, and allege the sabotage was ordered by a Ukrainian state agency.
Legal Tribune Online reported Zhuravlyov was arrested while advising on “Snake Island,” a Doug Liman film about the attack starring Adrien Brody and Sean Penn; AFP said authorities did not immediately verify that detail.
Poland had previously held Zhuravlyov but refused to extradite him, judging any Ukrainian attack on the pipelines could be a legitimate act of war rather than a crime.
The case is politically sensitive because Germany has strongly backed Kyiv; Zelenskyy says his government knew nothing of any plan to blow up the pipelines.
