Summary
A new Economist/YouGov projection shows Trump’s net job approval is underwater in 47 states and Washington, with only Wyoming (+14), Idaho (+9) and West Virginia (+6) still positive.
D.C. posted his worst rating at -83, while Maryland and Vermont were next at -50, underscoring how broadly his support has eroded beyond traditional Democratic strongholds.
National polling has also hit record lows: a Reuters/Ipsos survey released Aug. 17 found just one in three Americans approve of Trump’s performance.
That slide has coincided with anxiety over Iran, with 80% of Americans in the Reuters/Ipsos poll saying U.S. involvement there will continue for an extended period.
Polling averages on Aug. 21 still show Trump deep in negative territory, including 39.5%-57.2% in RealClearPolitics and 37%-59% in the New York Times tracker.
