Nearly 30 NASA and Exploratorium scientists and technicians will set up beside the church of San Salvador after the site was chosen for its position in the path of totality, clear horizon and strong communications links.
Juan Ansótegui, who bought the village 20 years ago and helped restore it after decades of abandonment, said NASA spent more than a year scouting Spanish locations and only needed dedicated power and network access.
The live coverage starts at 7:30 pm CEST and is part of a wider NASA broadcast from multiple points along the eclipse track, which crosses Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic, northern Spain, part of Portugal and northern Russia.
