Summary
Eight children ages 4 to 5 were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a black sedan crashed into Grandview House Preschool in Glendale around 1:54 p.m. Friday.
Police said a 79-year-old woman was attempting a U-turn in the parking lot when she mistook the gas for the brake, hit a parked SUV and accelerated into a classroom.
Mahmoud Hijazi, a nearby resident, said he jumped a fence after hearing a "big boom," pulled children from the wreckage and found two trapped under collapsed debris.
Investigators said the crash appears accidental, no arrests are expected and DUI was ruled out, as parents arrived in tears to take children from the damaged school.
