Russia Hits 7 Ukrnafta Energy Sites, Shutting Production Ahead of Winter

Seven Ukrnafta facilities in eastern Ukraine were hit overnight on Aug. 7, destroying critical equipment and forcing several oil and gas production sites to shut down, Naftogaz said.
Naftogaz said the strikes were aimed at causing maximum damage before winter; acting chairman Serhii Fedorenko called it the most massive shelling of Ukrnafta facilities in recent times.
Four Ukrnafta gas stations in Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk were also struck later in the day, extending a summer campaign that has increasingly targeted fuel infrastructure beyond the east and south.
No casualties were reported, but the attacks have disrupted fuel deliveries to front-line areas and come as Ukraine's air-defense shortages leave energy sites harder to protect.
The latest damage deepens concern over winter readiness after officials warned of another harsh season and Zelensky said in July the energy sector was behind its preparation goals.
