Hennrich Refuses to Back Gluesenkamp Perez After Winning 16% in WA's 3rd Primary

Brent Hennrich said he will not support Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez in November after taking more than 16% of the primary vote—nearly 28,000 ballots—in Washington's battleground 3rd District.
Hennrich, who ran to her left, blamed her record, citing her vote for a more than $1 trillion defense bill and support for requiring parental consent before students change pronouns or preferred names at school.
Those voters could matter in a district both parties see as crucial to the House majority, where Gluesenkamp Perez advanced with Republican state Senate leader John Braun and drew less than 40% of the early primary vote.
Braun said Hennrich was taking a principled stand and argued his supporters were not natural Perez voters, while Perez's campaign said she would keep appealing across the district.
The race now heads to a general election in a district Trump carried in all three of his runs, with Braun backed by Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson due to campaign with him Thursday.
